Klampenborg, Denmark

5-year-old Theo's room has undergone a few changes since the family moved in a couple of years ago: First it was a nursery, then a toddler room; and now Theo is an active 5-year-old boy, who loves to play with LEGO, draw, create and play with his little brother and friends.

The room recently went through an upgrade, where a custom-built desk and shelves were added, and a safe, secure and larger bed was put in, much to Theo's joy and excitement.

Colours are kept playful yet calm with tones of light green, blues and whites – a beautiful combination with the warmth of the wood from the oak bed and frames.

Theo's bed is a 'Wood Mini' bed from Oliver Furniture. Choosing this bed was an easy decision with its "sturdy frame and option to transform into a bunk bed later on", says Rose, Theo's mom.

The bed is placed in one end of the room, accompanied by two colourful posters – one Babar, and the other; a large Thomas Winding poster.

A robot lamp and cars made from LEGO have found a perfect spot in the window sill.

The custom desk was added just recently, and allows for Theo to keep some of his toys and creations away from the floor.

Above, matching shelves that are used to store books, an old globe from Theo's dad's childhood, raffia baskets and a 'Hundred Acre Wood' poster.

A mix of drawings, postcards, Theo's great grandmother's old rattan box that was used to store her jewellery, block crayons and the book 'Den Fantastiske Bus'.

A corner of the desk with two old Kevi chairs that were originally produced by Theo's great grandfather and given to Theo's mom when she was a little girl. Now they have been passed on to Theo to much joy to everyone in the family.

Seen here: A mint green raffia basket, the 'Hundred Acre Wood' poster, party masks, 'Den Fantastiske Bus' and block crayons in a practical metal box.

The game of bingo and other great family games often end up in Theo's room, where Theo and his friends like to play.

A look into Theo's room from the hallway, with the extra large four in a row placed on the floor. During summer, Theo and his brother often bring the four in a row with them outside.

On the old Kevi chair; a Studio Mini Highlands & Islands Liberty pillow and in the window is a large blue mushroom lamp available here in a lighter blue version.

The Wood Mini bed from Oliver Furniture comes with a bed frame, which adds a sense of safety and security for Theo now. It may easily be removed once Theo no longer needs it.

Above the bed hangs a 'Le Voyage, Babar' poster and a large Thomas Winding poster.

"Theo's room has gone through all the stages: Infant, to baby to toddler room. We now have a wonderful set up in here that works for the long term. Everything can be adjusted as Theo grows, and I love the flexibility."

The walls have been painted with 'Cromarty' from Farrow and Ball – a different colour from the rest of the home to illustrate that this is Theo's room. The light green pairs well with the 'Elefanterne Gemmer Sig' poster.

The natural oak from the Wood Mini bed adds warmth to the room while matching the green and blue tones beautifully.

The large elephant pouf on the floor is always up for a wrestle or a big hug. At times, Theo carries the elephant into his bed an uses it as a large pillow.
